The Fayetteville Marksmen roster for Friday night’s Southern Professional Hockey League opener is chock full of first-year players.

That’s not a bad thing, according to veteran center Jake Hauswirth, who will be the team’s captain for the second consecutive season. After all, there’s nowhere to go but up for a franchise that won only 12 of 56 games and finished in the SPHL cellar last year.
