DAWGS SET 2018-19 OPENING NIGHT ROSTER

Eight of 19 on roster skated for Roanoke in 2017-18

 

ROANOKE, Va. – The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs announced on Wednesday the full opening night roster for the 2018-19 season. The full roster is listed below.

Highlighting the list are 2017-18 All-SPHL Second Team forward Steve Mele and 2017-18 SPHL Goaltender of the Year Brad Barone. Mele led the Rail Yard Dawgs with 22 goals and 37 assists over 56 games played last season. Barone finished 15-15-2 with a 2.93 GAA and a league-leading .917 save percentage.

Included on the roster are forwards Dillan Fox and Jesse Schwartz, who were added at the end of training camp. Fox split the 2017-18 campaign with the Mississippi RiverKings and ECHL’s Reading Royals. With Mississippi he scored 23 goals and handed out 11 assists over 32 games played. Schwartz is entering his rookie season out of UCONN and had ten goals and five assists in 33 games during his senior season in 2017-18.

The Rail Yard Dawgs open their regular season on Friday in Fayetteville against the Marksmen. Roanoke’s home opener, presented by Haley Toyota, will take place on Saturday at 7:05 PM against the Knoxville Ice Bears.
