A long-time volunteer with the Georgetown Raiders of the Ontario Junior Hockey League is being honoured by a local chamber of commerce this month.

Veteran dressing room attendant Shawn Woods (blue shirt) will receive the Employee of the Year award at the Halton Hills Business Achievement Awards Gala Oct. 17 at Glencairn Golf Club

Woods received word of his win at a surprise party in his honour hosted by his employer of 21 years, the Real Canadian Superstore in Georgetown.

Raiders players Jaden Condotta, Justin Paul and Jake Keast and staff members Andrew Goombridge and Mike Fisher attended the celebration.

“Shawn is an excellent ambassador of our company, is hard working, and he not only knows everyone in town – but he greets them and chats with them as they head into the store,” said Lori Gysel of the Superstore.

The award is sponsored by Halton Region Economic Development, Small Business Centre.
