OTTAWA, ON - The Canadian Lacrosse Association is currently seeking nominations for two (2) positions on the organization's Board of Directors, which will be voted on by the Members during the organization’s 2018 Annual Meeting (AM) on November 24 in Ottawa.
 
The primary role of the CLA Board of Directors is to govern by providing leadership and direction for CLA in pursuit of its vision and mission. The Board is elected by the membership of the CLA and is ultimately accountable to the membership for competent stewardship that will ensure the long-term viability of the CLA.
 
The two (2) positions up for election this year are as follows. Each position has a two-year term.
  • - Director of Administration
  • - Director of Domestic Development
 
As per Section 9.2 of the CLA Operations Manual, which details the nomination process, an interested candidate can have their nomination brought forth by their Member Association (MA) or by recommendation from the Nominations Committee.
  • - A candidate for a vacancy must be "a member in good standing of a MA; or a current member of the Board of Directors; or an individual participant in good standing of the Association."
  • - All interested candidates must provide a completed and signed Nomination Form for Candidates to the Board of Directors, stating his or her willingness to stand for the office as set out in the nomination.
  • - All interested candidates must provide a resume of skills, qualifications and experience specific to the position they are seeking nomination for.
 
While nominations are not due until 30 days prior to the AM, the Nominations Committee is asking that Members provide their proposed nominations to the committee chair and CLA office by October 15 as a courtesy. This will give the committee and the Member Associations sufficient time to assess the pool of candidates and find additional ones for positions where they feel they are needed.
 
Please take note of the important dates below:
  • - Nominations Due (Suggested) = October 15, 2018 (as a courtesy to MAs and Nominations Committee)
  • - Nominations Due (Deadline) = October 25, 2018 (30 Days Prior to AM)
  • - Nominations Circulated = November 3, 2018 (21 Days Prior to AM)
  • - Annual Meeting = November 24, 2018
