MINOT, ND The Souris Valley Sabre Dogs welcome back Corey Thompson to the Magic City as the head coach for the 2019 season.

Coach Thompson, a native of Lakeland, Fla., served as the Sabre Dogs’ head coach for the inaugural 2018 season. Thompson’s first season as a head coach was a successful one as he led the Sabre Dogs to a 40-24 regular season record and first place in the Expedition League Lewis Division.

During the Sabre Dogs’ off season, Thompson is the pitching coach for Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala., where he assists in the recruiting process at Spring Hill as well.

Thompson’s coaching career began at Point University in Georgia as a student assistant.  He then moved to Coastal Alabama Community College for the 2016-2017 season as the team’s pitching coach, recruiting coordinator and assisted with strength training for the team.

Thompson spends his time during the summer months continuously working on his coaching career. He has spent time as an assistant coach for the Regina Red Sox in the Western Major Baseball League during the 2015 season and as the assistant coach for the Waterloo Bucks in the Northwoods League during the 2016 and 2017 summers.

“We look forward to having Coach Thompson back next year,” Darrell Handelsman, General Manager, said. “He does a great job in the recruiting process of our team and is a positive role model and leader to not only his players, but our fans as well.”

Season ticket renewals for current season ticket holders are going on now. Season tickets to the general public are available starting September 1. For inquiries call 701-839-9100 or email savannah@sourisvalleysabredogs.com.
