Five Run Eighth Propels Jackals to Victory

Coming off a series split agains the Sussex County Miners, the New Jersey Jackals were back in action on Friday night in Quebec City, Canada to face the Quebec Capitales at Stade Canac.

The Jackals plated five runs in the eighth inning to propel them to a  game one victory, 8-6.

TJ White started the scoring for Quebec in the bottom of the second with a sacrifice fly to score Kalian Sams.

New Jersey grabbed its first lead of the game in the top of the third inning when three runs came across.

Taylor Oldham singled to score Rony Cabrera, Seth Spivey hit into a fielder's choice that scored Connor Hofmann and David Harris drove in his team leading 68th RBI with a single to drive in Oldham.

Quebec grabbed two runs back in the home half of the frame on one swing of the bat with a two-run homer by Zach Wilson, tying the game.

Adam Ehrlich singled to score James McOwen before Nick Van Stratten brought in Brad Antchak and Maxx Tissenbaum in the Quebec half of the fourth to re-take a 6-3 lead.

Cabrera started a string of three RBI singles in a huge eighth inning for the Jackals with an RBI to plate Carlos Triunfel. Oldham and Spivey then picked up RBI knocks before Oldham scored on a wild pitch to put New Jersey up, 8-6.

Vin Mazzaro notched his 10th save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning as the Jackals won its 48th game of the year.

Four players collected a multi-hit performance as the Jackals look to take the second game of the series on September 1 at 6:05 P.M.
