BLUE STREAKS HOCKEY WELCOMES NEW HEAD COACH

The Department of Recreation, Intramurals, and Club Sports is excited to welcome Scott Shantery as the next Head Coach of John Carroll University Men's Hockey.  Scott has established himself as a reputable member of the Northeast Ohio hockey community, let alone a highly knowledgeable coach throughout the high school, college, and junior hockey ranks.

We are excited to welcome Coach Shantery back to his alma mater, as he is no stranger to the Blue Streak Hockey program.  Most recently acting in a Player Personnel capacity for the JCU team, while leading the high school hockey program at Villa Angela – St. Joseph High School in Cleveland, Ohio, he returns to the Blue Streaks with a passion for upholding the integrity of the program, continuing to advance the program's reach in building not only community support, but in recruiting, while also molding leaders with our ACHA D-I Hockey Club student-athletes.  Coach Shantery also was an Assistant and Associate Head Coach for the Blue Streaks from 2007 – 2016.  Likewise, prior to his time as an assistant with John Carroll, Coach Shantery served as the Goalie Coach for the Mahoning Valley Phantoms of the NAHL for three seasons. During Scott's stay in Mahoning Valley, the organization made two National Tournament appearances.

"I am excited to welcome Scott back to the JCU Hockey program," said Courtney Farver, Director of Recreation, Intramurals, and Club Sports.  "I know his commitment to the Blue Streak Hockey program and John Carroll University runs deep; I'm grateful for his focus to continue the prominence and recent success our hockey team has experienced, but to also equip our student-athletes with the skills to succeed on and off the ice!"

As the Hockey program continues to welcome Coach Shantery back in to the fold, stay tuned for the 2018-2019 Blue Streak Hockey schedule to be released soon with home contests taking place at Gilmour Academy Ice Arena.
