Copperheads Have Historic Season

Date:  Source: Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League

The Southern Ohio Copperheads had a season for the record books.  They finished the regular season with a record of 31-10, which was a franchise record for wins, giving them the number one overall seed for the playoffs.  Then during the playoffs, they swept both of their series, against the Joes and the Sugar Beets, to win the GLSCL Championship.  Red-hot late in the season, the Copperheads won their last 10 games to win the championship.  As a testament to their historic season, they had 12 players earn All-League Honors, including 7 that were First Team.  In addition to this, Copperheads’ player Blaine Crim won the Gary Henschen Player of the Year Award for the league.  And to cap it all off, head coach Phil Butler earned Manager of the Year for his outstanding coaching job.  The Copperheads have players from many different colleges, including Western Kentucky University, Youngstown State University, Ohio University, Penn State, Bowling Green, Mississippi College, and Michigan State University.  Congratulations to everyone involved in the Copperheads organization on a fantastic season.
