Two-Day Event Marks HCBL Opening Day 2024
Date: Apr 12, 2024
The Southampton Breakers have had a reputation in their ten-year history in the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League in producing some of the best pitchers in the league each season. The 2018 season was no exception as Carson Seymour (Dartmouth) took home the 2018 HCBL Pitcher of the Year award.
Seymour led the HCBL in wins during 2018 going a perfect 5-0 in nine appearances on the mound with an ERA of 2.63. The native of Temecula, California went 41 innings during the season with 40 strikeouts and 23 walks. Seymour won his final four starts of the season for the Breakers and was selected to the HCBL All-Star Game in July.
Seymour is the sixth Breaker pitcher to be named the HCBL Pitcher of the Year and makes it two straight years for the Breakers after Evan Tubbs (St. Edwards) took the award last season. Seymour was selected on all seven HCBL head coaches’ ballots with four first place votes along with a second and third place vote.
Westhampton’s Tyler Thorington (Western Michigan) finished second with a pair of first, second and third place votes. HCBL strikeout leader Joseph Quintal (Fordham) of Shelter Island finished third in the balloting.
Long Island’s Dominic Savino (Albany) and Riverhead’s Beau Keathley (Oakland) rounded out the top five in voting for the award.
