WINTER GARDEN,Fla (August 1, 2018) – Although the Winter Garden Squeeze couldn’t clinch a seed in playoffs, Aaron Anderson (Flagler) was able to walk away from Winter Garden as a new record holder in the Florida College Summer League.

Before Anderson, the record for highest batting average (min. 100 AB) was .430, held by Sanford River Rat Omar Villaman, in 2016. Anderson ended his 2018 season for Winter Garden with a .434 batting average.

“It was great being a part of Aaron’s record season. His approach at the plate and his work ethic was the reason behind it,” head coach Jay Welsh mentioned, “his preparation pregame was among the best I’ve ever seen.”

In 35 games played, Anderson had 49 hits with 113 at bats. Included in those 49 hits were seven doubles, one triple, and one homerun. Anderson also had 17 RBIs, which made him the RBI leader on the Squeeze.

Anderson will be a redshirt sophomore this upcoming season at Flagler, and Anderson has no plans on slowing down.

“I have a strong foundation to build off of going into next spring. I knew leaving Flagler in May that I had to elevate my game and I feel like I’m closer to where I need to be to help us win a World Series.”
