NWT Goaltender Jacobson Re-Signs with Civics

Date:  Source: New Tecumseth Civics

The Civics are proud to announce the resigning of veteran goaltender Mitchell Jacobson from Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories for the upcoming 2018-2019 season.

Jacobson, who is well over 6 feet tall, creates quite the imposing force in net for the Civics. With his combination of size and skill it comes as no surprise to see Jacobson coming back for his last year of junior hockey after spending last season with the team recording 2 Wins in 5 opportunities and showing strong technical goaltending in the opportunities he got.

Jacobson was happy to talk about returning to the Civics saying, “I can’t wait to get back into the Civic Red White and Blue, I’m looking forward to playing for my team and giving it all I’ve got this season, One of the goals at the forefront of my season is to make it farther in playoffs this year and give this team a shot at competing for the Russell Cup.”

In Espanola the season prior (alongside GM and Head Coach Dennis Martindale with the NOJHLs Express) Jacobson appeared in 18 games providing a solid net presence for the Express while developing his game.

That season was far from his first in junior however as Jacobson had spent parts of the last 3 seasons playing for the Onion Lake Border Chiefs in the North Eastern Alberta Junior B Hockey League (NEAJBHL) helping to lead the Border Chiefs to the playoffs in 2015 and 2016.

Martindale, is heading into his third season coaching Jacobson and has high hopes for the experienced netminder, “The Civics are very pleased to have Tuky back for another season. I have coached him for 2 seasons now and I know what his potential is. I am confident that he will come in with a fresh start and be focused to have a great season. He is very good technically and has all the told to be a very good goalie in this league. We’re excited for our season and Tuky will be a big part of our team.”

The Civics are very happy to welcome you back, from your community in Tuktoyaktuk to ours here in New Tecumseth as we are hoping for big things on the ice from you Mitchell, welcome back to Civic Nation
