The Souris Valley Sabre Dogs picked up a 13-9 win in a back-and-forth contest with the Badlands Big Sticks.

The Big Sticks struck first with a pair of runs in the second inning. The Sabre Dogs took the lead with three runs an inning later, including a two-RBI single by Clay Ashworth.

Badlands Put up four runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a convincing 6-3 lead. In the bottom of the frame, Souris Valley roared back to tie it with a two-run home run by EJ Ranel.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Sabre Dogs jumped out to a 9-6 lead with another two-run shot by Ranel and another RBI by Ashworth.

Badlands threatened with a run in the top of the seventh, but Souris Valley put the game away with four runs over the next two innings to lead 13-7 headed to the final inning.

Luke Dawson tallied 11 strikeouts in seven innings as the starter for Souris Valley. He was relieved by Zach Lang, who’s only blemish was a two-run home run allowed in the top of the ninth inning.

EJ Ranel went 3-for-5 with 3 RBIs and 2 home runs. Chauncey Callier went 4-for-5 at the plate and added a stolen base in the third inning.
