The Sussex County Miners visited the New Jersey Jackals for a split four game series in the continuation of the Battle of New Jersey. Following tomorrow’s game, the series will continue at Skylands Stadium.

The Miners took an early 6-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Jackals starting pitcher, Tyler Levine, let up six hits, including four singles, a double and a triple. Connor Crane and Christian Correra both collected an RBI on their hits, while Daniel Mateo added two RBI’s on his triple.

In the top of the third, the Miners added another run when Jayce Ray scored on a throwing error by catcher, Kevin Torres. Audy Ciriaco homered in the top of the fifth and later that inning, Correra had his second RBI hit of the game, increasing the Miners lead, 9-0.

Jordan Martinez replaced Levine in the top of the sixth. Levine finished with a final line of five innings pitched, seven earned runs, nine hits, and two strikeouts.

After retiring the first two batters Martinez faced, he let up a triple to Mateo, his second of the game. He then scored on a single from Mikey Renyolds.

The Jackals finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning. Connor Hofmann and Seth Spivey hit back-to-back singles, Hofmann then scored on a single from Dean Green. However, the Miners scored another three runs the next inning.
