The Sussex County Miners defeated the New Jersey Jackals 12-2 on Friday night at Skylands Stadium.

Behind a monstrous offense showing and good starting pitching, the Miners won their third straight game to remain in first place in the Can-Am League.

The Jackals have now fallen back to .500 with their third consecutive loss.

In the top of the first, left fielder John Reuttiger hit a sacrifice fly to score right fielder Connor Hoffmann to make it a 1-0 lead for the Jackals.

Sussex County answered in the bottom of the frame with three-straight RBI singles by first baseman Audy Ciraco, designated hitter Danny Mateo and catcher Luis Allen. 

Jackals catcher Kevin Torres doubled home designated hitter Nolan Meadows in the top of the second to cut the lead to one.

Third baseman Martin Figueroa hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning to plate the Miners fourth run.

Mateo hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning to make the game 5-2, Miners.

From there, Sussex County exploded for seven more runs.

An error by short stop Carlos Triunfel scored a run and a two run double by right fielder Breeland Almadova capped off a three-run fifth for Sussex County. 

Ciraco hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning and Almadova picked up another RBI with a double to make it a four-run frame and give Sussex County the eventual 12-2 victory.

Ciraco finished with four RBIs and Almadova drove in three.

The Jackals look to get back in the win column on Saturday, July 14 as they play the third game of the series at Yogi Berra Stadium.

First pitch is set for 6:05 P.M.
