The New Jersey Jackals opened up a new series with the in-state rival Sussex County Miners at Skylands Stadium on Thursday night.

Sussex County won its Can-Am League leading 34th game of the season after second baseman Mikey Reynolds delivered a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning.

In the top of the first, New Jersey began the scoring when first baseman Andy Mocahbee hit a single to score left fielder Connor Hofmann.

Catcher Luis Allen answered back for Sussex County in the bottom of the second with an RBI single to plate Reynolds.

Connor Hofmann, who was activated off the disabled list before the game, scored on a wild pitch in the third inning to make the game 2-1, Jackals.

Reynolds then lined a single to score third baseman Martin Figueroa to once again tie the score in the bottom of the frame.

Figueroa gave Sussex County its first lead after he brought home center fielder Jayce Ray with a double in the fifth inning.

Jackals third baseman Seth Spivey knotted the game back up in the top of the sixth inning with his 30th RBI this season.

Spivey hit a single to bring in center fielder David Harris.

Jackals starting pitcher Alberto Rodriguez twirled a quality outing, firing six innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out six and walking four.

Jose Velez worked two scoreless innings out the bullpen for the Jackals before the game was turned over to Mat Latos.

The Miners rallied off Latos.

A double, intentional walk and sacrifice bunt, the winning run was 90 feet away for the Miners.

Another intentional walk to Figueroa loaded the bases.

Reynolds then hit the first pitch he saw into left field to walk-off New Jersey.

The Jackals look to bounce back on Friday, July 13 in game two of the series at Skylands Stadium.

First pitch is slated for 7:05 P.M.
