HUNTSVILLE – The Huntsville Havoc will bring in a former opponent to join training camp this year. Head Coach Glenn Detulleo has signed forward Ryan Salkeld, who played for the Macon Mayhem and Mississippi RiverKings last season.

"We look forward to having Ryan join the organization," said Detulleo. "He brings a good mix of size, speed and skill that will fit nicely with our style of play."

The Portsmouth, Virginia, native played 52 games for the two teams last season, recording 18 goals and 26 assists. Salkeld (6-2, 180) also played 14 games for Macon and the Fayetteville FireAntz (now Marksmen) in the 2016-17 season.

"Huntsville was always one of my favorite places to play," said Salkeld. "The facility and fan base are top notch and, coming off a championship season, I know they are looking to put a team on the ice that can do the same thing this year."

The 26-year-old started his professional career in the ECHL with the Norfolk Admirals, playing 13 games and scoring 3 goals and 2 assists. In college, he played alongside Havoc goaltender Mike DeLaVergne at Buffalo State College, seeing action in 92 games, scoring 32 goals and 39 assists.

"The SPHL seems to get better every year," said Salkeld. "It has been a fun challenge to adapt and find my role at the pro level."

Salkeld joins the likes of SPHL Finals MVP Sy Nutkevitch at forward for the Havoc training camp in October.
