For the first time in the HCBL weekly awards, there was a tie in both the Player and Pitcher of the Week awards.

Shelter Island’s John Behrends (Belmont) and Riverhead’s Eduardo Malinowski (Pennsylvania) split the New Era Cap Player of the Week award, while North Fork’s Cam Fowler (Nebraska Omaha) and Southampton’s Carson Seymour (Dartmouth) were Ace Hardware Co-Pitchers of the Week.

Behrends hit .500 in Week 5 for Shelter Island. The Tennessee native hit 12-for-24 on the week with a home run, five RBI and nine runs scored.

The Belmont Sophomore is currently hitting close to a .300 batting average with nine RBI for the Bucks.

The native of Spring, Texas is currently ranked in the HCBL top five in batting average (.363), hits (37), RBI (25), doubles (9) and triples (3).
