HOLYOKE, Mass. –  Valley Blue Sox outfielder Andre Marrero (Quinnipiac) and Mystic Sooners right hand pitcher Christopher Troye (UC Santa Barbara) have been named the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for their efforts on the diamond for Week 4 of the 2018 season.

Marrero is the first Blue Sox player to claim the honor for this season. The outfielder boasted a pair of multi-hit performances – including two three-hit outings –  to lead the league with 10 RBIs. He had a 3-for-4 showing with a run and a season-high five RBIs in a 12-5 win over Winnipesaukee on June 27. Following another 2-for-4 game with a double as part of an 8-3 win over Keene a day later, he added three more hits to his season total with another 3-for-5 evening in an important 6-4 win over Upper Valley. That game featured a triple and three more RBIs, and he drove in one more run yesterday against North Adams.

On the summer, the rising junior at Quinnipiac is now batting over .300 with a 20-for-64 clip at the plate (.313). He has two home runs, two doubles and a triple, as well as 18 RBIs. He has drawn 10 walks while striking out only 12 times in 64 at-bats while earning a .313/.385/.469 for an .854 OPS. He finished his sophomore season at Quinnipiac with 56 hits in 211 at-bats (.265) with 17 doubles and 20 RBIs.
