Magic Man's Gem Lifts Big Sticks

SPEARFISH, SD- The Big Sticks rebounded well from their game 1 loss and came away with a big win that snapped their 3-game slide. Clay “The Magic Man” Wilson took the mound once again for the Big Sticks and again, came away with the win over the Sasquatch. Clay tossed 8 Strong innings only allowing 3 runs and striking out 3 on his way to tying the league lead with 4 wins.

The Sasquatch got the ball rolling in the 2nd inning when Justin Folz was able to knock a solo shot to give Spearfish a 1-0 lead. Auggie Francis evened it up in the 3rd as he drove home Drew Staley with a single. Staley was 4-4 with 2 runs on the day. The Big Sticks added a couple more in the 5th thanks to an RBI knock by Gabe Knowles and an error by the Sasquatch shortstop that led to a Jake Thurber run. More insurance runs came in the 6th as Aaron Fritts drove in a run and Auggie Francis drove in a pair in back to back at bats.

Spearfish tried to crawl back into the game with runs in the 6th and 7th inning to cut the lead to 6-3. But in the 9th the Big Sticks brought in closer Kaleb Binstock who once again came through with a 3 strikeout inning to end the game.

The Big Sticks Begin a 5-game home stand today, 6/23. First up the Hub City Hotshots come in for 2, then we bring in the Sasquatch for a 3 game series.
