Shorthanded Blazers Avenge Midseason Losses Led By McAulay, Spiteri, Wood, Bronson

Date:  Source: Victoria Senior Lacrosse League

The Blazers are back to their winning ways, overcoming recent losses to both the Jokers and Tugmen with decisive victories. But not all is well in Blazer Nation, as the dudes with good attitudes seem to be missing half their roster.

Last week the Blazers played without Julian Spence, Bryan Reeve, Adam West-Patrick, Jeremy Bell, Nick Falkiner, Pat Falkiner, Zack Smith, Greer Koch, Nick Arthur, Brian Ho-Yee, and Riccardo Suter – all of which were either injured, had work commitments, or had moved to Switzerland. If you happen to run into one of these guys, please remind them that the playoffs begin next week and their team is looking for them.

The first game of the week saw the Blazers falling 8-6 to the Esquimalt Tugmen, which was the best dressed team in BC’s second loss in a week after running through the majority of the season undefeated. But things managed to get a little bit back on track for the good guys, as they followed up first with a big 8-2 win over the Victoria Jokers squad that previously defeated them, followed by a 15-9 win over the meddlesome Tugmen.

Leading the charge for the Blazers last week was former VSLL Scoring Champion Cody Boon (7G, 4A), defending VSLL MVP Aaron Roberts (6G 3A), faceoff specialist and star two-way player Chris McAulay (3G 6A), veteran transition player Tory Spiteri (3G 4A), star sniper Trenton Douglas (3G 2A), and defending VSLL top defender and team captain Kurt Bronson (2G 3A).
