Braehead Clan coach Pete Russell says latest signing Rasmus Bjerrum is champing at the bit to come to the UK.

The 26-year-old is moving to Glasgow from Danish side Odense Bulldogs, where he has spent the last five seasons.

And Russell was impressed at what he can do when he looked into moving for the player, who is leaving his native Denmark for the first time in his career.

“Rasmus has good speed, a really good shot, competes hard and has a great hockey IQ,” the Clan coach explained.

“When Rasmus name came up I watched video and really like what I saw. He is a very good player with and without the puck. He makes smart decisions and can play in all situations.

“He is a young man who has done very well in Denmark in a good league and is now hungry to try something new outside his homeland.  I love that desire and I’m excited to seeing him in action.”

Bjerrum, from Esbjerg in Denmark, is a Danish Cup winner with Odense back in 2016 and has played in the Continental Cup during his time there.

All in, he has made nearly 400 appearances in all competitions in the Metal Ligaen, scoring 64 goals and assisting in a further 90.

He becomes Braehead’s 13th signing of a busy summer so far as they continue to prepare for the new season.
