The New Jersey Jackals plated eight runs on 14 hits, and five players put together a multi-hit performance, as they won the rubber game of a three game set 8-1 over the Trios-Rivieres Aigles on Sunday.

First baseman Dean Green hit a solo home run in the top of the first, his seventh of the year (tied for the third in the league) to give New Jersey a 1-0 lead.

Catcher Kevin Torres hit into a double play in the second inning, but with no one out, third baseman Seth Spivey scored from third to make it 2-0, New Jersey.

New Jersey erupted for five runs in the top of the fourth inning.

Designated hitter Danny Canela ripped an RBI single to score center fielder David Harris. Right fielder Nolan Meadows hit an RBI double to score Spivey. A passed ball scored Canela and second baseman Rony Cabrera hit an RBI single to drive in Meadows. Finally, left fielder Connor Hofmann doubled to score Cabrera to cap off the rally.

The Jackals pushed the lead to 7-0.

In the bottom of the eighth, third baseman Taylor Brennan lifted a sacrifice fly to score short stop Sam Dexter and plate the only run for Trois-Rivieres.

Canela put the finishing touches on the game in the ninth inning when he grounded out and scored first baseman Dean Green to up the Jackals tally to 8-1.

New Jersey starting pitcher Yasmani Hernandez was brilliant once again.

Hernandez put together seven shut out innings while yielding just two hits on two walks while striking out six.

Hernandez has now thrown 21.1 combined innings over his last three starts, allowing just one earned run on eight hits. The Cuban born left-hander is quickly emerging as the Jackals ace.
