The Burlington Chiefs scored eight powerplay goals – half of them by Chris Boushy – as the Burlington Chiefs cruised to a 16-6 win over the Mimico Mountaineers.

Boushy finished the night with six goals and 11 points and Ryan Smith scored four times for the Chiefs, who built an early 6-0 lead in the first 15 minutes and extended it to 8-1 by the end of the opening period.

Mimico racked up 95 penalty minutes and Burlington made them pay by going 8-for-13 with the man advantage.

Jason Knox had a goal and eight assists and Ryan Lanchbury scored once and set up seven more. Damon Currie had a pair of goals and Hunter Lemieux and Callum Jones also scored for Burlington. Smith, Lemieux and Currie each had two assists.

The win moved Burlington into sole possession of first place with a 9-2 record, including a perfect 7-0 at home. The Chiefs will play their next four games on the road, though, beginning Friday in Peterborough and followed by a Saturday game in Kitchener-Waterloo.
