NORTH ADAMS, MA- The Valley Blue Sox used a six run second inning, and never looked back as they defeated the North Adams SteepleCats 11-0 at Joe Wolfe Field Wednesday Night.
The Blue Sox bats came back in a big way - and got going early on in the game - scoring six runs in the 2nd inning. Ciaran Devenney (Mercer County CC) got things going for the Blue Sox, reaching on an error to get the Blue Sox on the board. Simon Whiteman (Yale University) had an RBI single credited to his name, and Andre Marrero (Quinnipiac University) had a 2 run single to put the Sox ahead early. Richard Constantine (Western Kentucky University) and Jaylen Smith (Kennesaw State University) were credited with RBIs due to walks and the Sox jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead.
The Sox were not done however, as in the very next inning Andre Marrero came up with a RBI groundout, and Tanner Murphy came up with a RBI single to center field. Murphy came up with 2 RBIs on the night. Andre Marrero led the team with 4 RBIs and is now hitting at .300 with the Blue Sox this season.
The North Adams SteepleCats struggled to throw the ball over the plate all night as they were credited with 13 walks tonight.
The Valley Blue Sox got brilliant pitching from RHP Endy Morales (SNHU) as he went 5 strong, giving up 3 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 3. The Blue Sox used just one reliever out of the bullpen. Robert Girgis (Flagler College) - and he was spectacular, going 4 innings, allowing no hits, no run and struck out 10.
