CAMBRIDGE - The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) announced today that Burlington outfielder Justin Gideon and London right-handed starter Dylan Brooks have been named the League’s Batter and Pitcher of the Week for the period from June 4-10. This is the first time this season Burlington has been honoured as the London Majors have captured the Pitcher of the Week three weeks in row.
JUSTIN GIDEON, Burlington Herd – IBL BATTER OF THE WEEK
Justin Gideon came alive last week hitting a .444 average over four games played. With 18 at bats, Justin recorded eight hits with three home runs, one triple and eleven RBI. Justin’s best performance came during a 10-1 win over the Brantford Red Sox where he recorded a grand slam to clear the bases and earn four RBI’s.
Justin, in his fourth season with the Burlington Herd, leads the team in all but one offensive category.
DYLAN BROOKS, London Majors – IBL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
In only his third start of the season, the Dorchester, Ontario native recorded the most strikeouts this season when the Majors defeated the Hamilton Cardinals 6-1 on June 6th. A complete game win saw Brooks walk three and strikeout fourteen with only one earned run.
Dylan is in his first season with the London Majors.
