Green Cranks Two Homers; Jackals Win 6-2

Going into the series finale against the Quebec Capitales on Sunday, the New Jersey Jackals had only scored one run in the first three games.

That all changed at Stade Canac as the Jackals defeated the Capitales, 6-2.

New Jersey racked up 12 hits en route to its first victory of the season.

Center fielder Kalian Sams drilled a solo home run in the bottom of the third to give the Caps a 1-0 edge.

In the bottom of the fourth, first baseman Lachlan Fontaine delivered an RBI single to make it 2-0, Quebec.

That would be all the scoring the Caps would do in the game, however, as Jackals starter Dylan Brammer settled in.

Brammer went six innings allowing just the two earned runs on six hits while walking two and striking out one. He earned his first win as a member of the Jackals and the first win for any Jackals' pitcher in 2018.

First baseman Dean Green promptly gave New Jersey its first lead of the series with a three run homer in the top of the sixth for his first of the year.

Right fielder Nolan Meadows hit an RBI single to score center fielder David Harris in the top of the 8th to extend the Jackals lead, 4-2.

Meadows finished the afternoon with a three hit game.

New Jersey plated two more in the top of the ninth after Green launched his second homer of the game; a solo shot over the right field wall. Third baseman Seth Spivey then knocked in Harris with an RBI single to make it 6-2, Jackals.

Relievers Vin Mazzaro and Vic Black pitched a combined three shut out innings, allowing just two hits out of the bullpen to end the contest.

New Jersey was able to avoid the sweep and will now hit the road again.

The Jackals will take on the Ottawa Champions May 21 at 1:35 P.M. at RCGT Park in Ontario.
