Third Bulldog Player of the Year in the Last Four Seasons

TROY, Mich. – (May 9, 2018)The 2018 American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Men's Division I Player of the Year Award  goes to Adrian College goaltender, Austyn Roudebush, as selected by the Head Coaches of ACHA Men's Division I.

Other finalists for the Men's Division I Player of the Year Award were:

Roudebush, who is the Adrian ACHA D-I all-time leader in Goals Against Average (1.51), Save Percentage (94.2%), and Shutouts (17), finished the regular season with a perfect 22-0-0 record, 8 shutouts, a 0.91 goals against average, and a 95.9% save percentage. The senior goaltender then went a perfect 4-0 with 2 shutouts, a 1.00 goals against average, and a 96.6% save percentage in leading the Bulldogs to their first ACHA Men’s Division I National Championship in March in Columbus, Ohio, culminating in Roudebush being named the Tournament Most Valuable Player.

"To earn two of the three major national awards from the ACHA for the second year in a row is a testament to our team," said Gary Astalos, who was named the 2018 ACHA Men’s Division I Coach of the Year in his second season at the helm of the Bulldogs. "I cannot say enough about how proud I am to have Austyn as a Bulldog on and off the ice.

Roudebush was able to beat out fellow teammate Brad Kobryn for the award, which is not an easy task considering that Kobryn won the Men's Division I Player of the Year Award in both 2014-2015 and 2016-2017 seasons, and was a finalist the other two seasons.  Roudebush was an All-Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League (GLCHL) First Team selection and capped off the regular season by leading the Bulldogs to the GLCHL Playoff Championship and was later  named the GLCHL Tournament Most Valuable Player.

"Austyn was the consistent backstop our team needed each and every night. For practice He is the first one on the ice and the last one off, he has a tireless work ethic." Astalos said. "I am very happy and proud that he has earned this national award."
