Team HNO Takes Home Their First Win of the 2018 OHL Gold Cup

Kitchener, Ont. – Team HNO won their first game of the 2018 OHL Gold Cup 6-3 against Team HEO on Thursday in Game 3 of the 2018 OHL Gold Cup at Activa Sportsplex in Kitchener, Ontario.

Konner Kuuskivi got Team HNO on the board just 2 minutes into the first from Ryan Beck, Owen Perala.

Team HEO tied it up with a goal from Sean McGurn - Kyle McDonald, and took the lead with just a minute left in the first thanks to Kyle McDonald, from Sean McGurn and Rocco Testa Basi.

Team HNO’s Jacob Perreault scored another one quick off the draw from Ryan Beck to tie it all up. Answering themselves with another one 11 minutes in, Team HNO’s Dylan Winsor scored from Nicholas Degrazia, Trystan Goodman.

Team HNO scored two power play goals unassisted in the third, first from Nikolas Campbell, the second from Colby Ambrosio.

Joshua Barnes then took advantage of an extra attacker with a power play goal for Team HEO, from Brendan Bays, Vincent Labelle.

Team HNO’s Owen Perala scored the last goal of the game on an empty net from Jacob Perreault, Kyle Aucoin.

Players of the game were Joshua Barnes for Team HEO and Colby Ambrosio for Team HNO.

“It’s been a great experience. I came up here not knowing any of the guys because they are all form about 12 hours away from me, so being with the guys it’s an awesome experience and I am just grateful to be here,” Colby Ambrosio for Team HNO, said about his experience at the OHL Gold Cup.

“We want to send as many guys to Calgary as we can,” Joshua Barnes for Team HEO. “We just want to work together, gel and win some games.”

The OHL Gold Cup is an annual showcase event featuring top under-16 talent in Ontario. As part of the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence (POE), players competing at the OHL Gold Cup have an opportunity to be evaluated for invitation to the national under-17 development camp, where Hockey Canada gathers the top talent from across the country to introduce players to the national team program and provide a foundation of development as they progress through the POE.
