The opening game of the 2018 hero’s cup set the stage for what’s is sure to be an amazing weekend! The United States Firefighters Ice Hockey Club would open the event at 1:40pm against the Northeast Eagles. The games took place at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough MA. Game one would start off very competitive with the Eagles and the US going back and forth. The US would break through first when Eric Breault would put a rebound home off a Will Jacques shoot from the high slot. The Breault goal would prove to be the game winning goal as goaltender Bryce Luker would lockdown the US net not letting any of the 20 shoots he saw past him. The US would get insurance markers from Brent Cheetham who scored in the first period. Evan Jacques would add two more in the second period to seal the deal for the US. The US faced some major penalty issues in game one spending 12 min shorthanded. The next game will be Saturday morning April 21stat 7:00am against the Braintree Police. Goaltender Jared Bebeau will get the nod as he see his first action of the weekend.
