Team Pennsylvania Sets Sights on 2018 Brick Tournament
Date: Apr 3, 2018
As the weather turned warm and summer inched closer, Team Pennsylvania came together for a team practice for the first time at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry, PA. It was the first time that the team, which will soon represent the state of Pennsylvania at the prestigious Brick Invitational Tournament in Edmonton, took the ice together. Players from all corners of the state make up the roster which is jointly sponsored by both the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers in an effort to elevate youth hockey in Pennsylvania.
The team has more than just practices scheduled in the lead-up to the Brick Tournament. Team Pennsylvania will soon head north for the Future Legends Hockey Hall of Fame Tournament in Toronto. An action packed weekend awaits as the team has four preliminary round games scheduled starting with a showdown against 08 Conacher Elite on Thursday, April 26th. The next day, Friday, April 27th, will see Team Pennsylvania compete in a double header against 08 Golden Ring Selects and 08 SHD Midwest. Pool play will conclude on Saturday, April 28th when Team Pennsylvania faces off with the 08 Ottawa Senators Prospects. The team will have the opportunity to advance to the quarterfinals on Saturday with the potential to qualify for the semi-finals and final on Sunday.
The Future Legends Tournament will be one of two competitions that Team Pennsylvania will compete in as the team will return to Toronto in early June for the North American Spring Showcase. Two more practice weekends will also be sprinkled in to the team’s preparation schedule. All of this is in preparation for the Brick Invitational Tournament in July. Team Pennsylvania will have the opportunity to play in the prestigious tournament and further demonstrate the growth and quality of youth hockey in the state.
