Crowley's Mammoth Effort Lifts Black Wolves

 DENVER - Kevin Crowley tied his season-high with five goals and added one assist as the New England Black Wolves defeated the Colorado Mammoth 10-6 at the Pepsi Center on Saturday night.
 
Crowley, who picked up his seventh consecutive hat trick in the second quarter, led New England (8-8) to its first victory over the Mammoth (10-7) since relocating from Philadelphia after the 2014 season. He now has a single-season career-high 49 goals on the season and has scored in 35 consecutive games for the Black Wolves.

Kyle Buchanan had one goal and three assists for the Black Wolves while Callum Crawford added one goal and two assists. Aaron Bold had 36 saves for New England in the victory. The six goals scored by Colorado was the least of any Black Wolves opponent since the Georgia Swarm scored six on January 17, 2016.

Stephan Leblanc got things going for New England, finding the back of the net just 32 seconds into play to put the Black Wolves up 1-0. Colorado tied it up just under five minutes later, but with 5:20 left to play Crowley picked up his first of the night to put New England up 2-1. He followed that 1:16 later with his second and Buchanan put the Black Wolves up 4-1 with a half second left in the first.

Brad Self got the Mammoth within two 1:04 into the second, but Mark Cockerton scored just over a minute later to put New England back up by three goals. Colorado scored with 10:40 left in the second to cut it the lead back down to two goal, but Crowley secured his hat trick with 5:46 left to put the Black Wolves up 6-3 to close out the first half.

With 4:58 left in the third, Cupido found scored in transition to pull Colorado back within 6-4. However, Crowley found the back of the net yet again 51 seconds later to give New England back a three-goal advantage at 7-4. Colorado answered with a goal from Jacob Ruest with 3:47 to go in the quarter before Crawford scored against his former team to put New England up 8-5 with 47 seconds remaining.
 
On the ensuing faceoff, Adam Bomberry scored off a rebound to give the Black Wolves a four goal advantage with 31.6 seconds left and that’s how the third quarter would end.

Noble scored for Colorado 1:12 into the fourth to cut into the New England advantage but after a back and forth defensive effort, Crowley iced the victory for the Black Wolves with his fifth of the night with 40 seconds remaining in the game.

New England will be back in action next on Saturday, April 21st at Rochester. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
