2018 Tritons Season Begins

Date:  Source: BCPBL: White Rock Tritons 18u

Spring Training has come and gone and the 2018 Season is upon us!

Senior

The Senior Tritons went to the Tucson Invitational Games during Spring Break to prepare for the Premier Season. The Seniors took on Collegiate competition, facing Eastern Arizona College, NM State Tech, Carleton, Carroll and Wesleyan Universities as well as ProTrain.

Upon returning to the Lower Mainland, the Senior Tritons have been battling the weather to play games and even practice. With the Best of West Showcase in Kamloops this weekend, the Seniors are excited to get on the field and display their talents!

The Premier team will open the PBL season tonight at UBC (7 PM), who has started 0-2 on the young season.

The 2018 Senior Tritons are a good mix of returning Senior players, Junior Tritons who have moved up to the big club, plus some new faces from surrounding areas!

Signed Senior Tritons: Cam Dunn, Yakima Valley (NWAC); Keith Manby, Miles City (NJAAC); Marshal Luiz, Alcorn State (SWAC, Div 1)

Junior

The Junior Tritons are opening their 2018 campaign this weekend with doubleheaders vs the Chiefs and Redlegs at Home (Noon Starts). For Spring Training, the JR squad headed to Phoenix and took part in exhibition games and a tournament, all against 18U competition!

The Juniors also took part in the Best of the West Midget Division last weekend and finished 3-1 (2-1 vs 18U competition!).

With most of the team transitioning from Prep baseball (80 ft. field), their 5-2 record in PHX is a testament to their size and strength, ability to make adjustments, and team chemistry. The 2018 Juniors are looking to build off last season’s strong finish and get off to a fast start in the JPBL Standings!

Prep

For the Prep Tritons in 2018, the squad is a melting pot of athletes from all over the lower mainland: White Rock, Surrey, Ladner, Richmond, Tsawwassen and Ferndale (USA)!

The players are working well together already, placing 3rd in back to back tournaments. First at the West Coast PreSeason Classic, beating Okotoks 10-2 in the 3rd place game and then losing in a semifinal match at the Best of the West Prep tournament in Kamloops.

The Preps will look to start their season on the right foot this weekend, playing Langley Blue on Saturday and Langley Black on Sunday, both Noon starts!

As an Organization, we are very excited for the 2018 Season and beyond! Go TRITONS!!
