For Games Played April 2-8

They say a change of scenery can be good for production. Outfielder Brant Blaylock is a prime example of this theory. The sophomore transferred from Mississippi State to Northwest Mississippi this season, and is reaping the benefits. Blaylock continued his tremendous season this past week, going 9-18 (.500 avg) at the plate. The highlight of the week came on Sunday in a doubleheader against Southwest Mississippi. He went 7-9 on the day with six runs, two doubles, three home runs and ten RBI. On the week, he scored eight times and drove in twelve in four games. Blaylock's season numbers are impressive. In 28 games, he is slashing .384/.443/.869 with 35 runs and 45 RBI. He has seven doubles, a triple and thirteen home runs, second most in the country at the Division II JUCO ranks. Blaylock was a member of the 2016 Sanford River Rats, and was voted by Florida League coaches as the "Best Athlete" from that summer.

Jason Moore continues to swing a hot bat for the Flagler Saints, padding his already impressive season numbers with a big week. He recorded at least one hit in all four games he played, finishing the week 9-17 at the dish. He started his week by going 1-3 with a run and two RBI against Valdosta State in a mid-week matchup. He then turned things up in the Saints' three-game set against Eckerd. He was 2-5 with a double and run in game one on Friday. Saturday was his breakout game, as the junior catcher went 4-4 with a double, two home runs, three runs and three RBI. He then capped off the week with two more hits and a run scored on Sunday. In his last ten games, Moore has driven in 20 runs for the Saints, and leads the Peach Belt conference with 51 on the year. Moore suited up for the Leesburg Lightning last summer.

Over at Grambling State, the reigning SWAC Player of the Year, Marshawn Taylor, is finding his groove once again. He picked up nine hits in thirteen tries last week, including three triples. The senior shortstop scored four times and drove in ten as he took home his second consecutive Player of the Week award. Taylor leads the conference in runs (32), hits (50), and triples (3). His .403 batting average is good for second in the conference, and his .486 OB is the fourth highest. Taylor was a member of the 2015 Winter Park Diamond Dawgs.

Drenis Ozuna is putting together an impressive resume in his sophomore campaign at Connors State (OK). Ozuna added seven hits to his resume in thirteen tries, pushing his season average to .391. He recorded three doubles and a home run, scoring six times and driving in two. Ozuna ranks among the national JUCO leaders in runs scored (58, 3rd) and RBI (60, 4th). He has 11 doubles, 11 home runs and is slashing .391/.515/.734. As a member of the Winter Garden Squeeze last year, Ozuna finished third in the league with four home runs. He is returning ti play for Head Coach Jay Welsh once again in 2018.
