Peewee Kings open provincials with win

ESSEX, Ont. – The Thunder Bay Kings are off to a winning start at the All-Ontario Peewee Hockey Championship in Essex, Ont.

Easton Glousher notched the game-winner with 1:13 remaining in regulation as Thunder Bay rallied to defeat the Nickel City Sons of Sudbury 4-2.

Nickel City jumped out to an early two-goal lead before Braydon Piccinin put the Kings on the board late in the first period.

They would then tie it with the lone marker of the middle frame off the stick of E.J. Paddington.

It stayed tied until late in regulation when Glouser supplied the difference maker.

Brady Butvin then added some insurance with an empty netter with 56 seconds remaining to complete the comeback victory.

Nicholas Holomego dished out two assists to aid the Thunder Bay cause while Carter George picked up the win in net.

Earning the club’s player of the game honours was Paddington.

The Kings will face a stiff test in their second game of the day as they take on a strong Mississauga Reps side at 4 p.m. back in Essex.
