Date:  Source: Elite Ice Hockey League

Cardiff Devils forward Joey Martin was the big winners among those to receive trophies from the 2017/18 Elite League End of Season Awards, scooping two trophies.

Voted on by the Elite League’s Head and Assistant Coaches, Martin won both the Forward of the Year and Player of the Year, finishing ahead of Manchester Storm’s Mike Hammond in each category.

Hammond did not finish the season empty-handed however, with his 83 points enough to see the 28-year-old claim the scoring title, just ahead of Guildford’s John Dunbar (81 points). Dunbar also finished 3rd in the Forward of the Year voting.

Devils goaltender Ben Bowns also picked up two gongs, firstly for Netminder of the Year - finishing ahead of Sheffield’s Ervins Mustukovs and Fife’s Andy Iles - and also for British Player of the Year, a category in which he narrowly beat Steelers’ defenceman Ben O’Connor and Belfast’s veteran forward Colin Shields.

Andrew Hotham secured his fourth straight Defenceman of the Year title, with Cardiff supremo Andrew Lord ensuring a clean sweep for the Elite League champions as he picked up the Coach of the Year award.

Manchester's Luke Moffatt and Coventry’s Marc-Olivier Vallerand shared the Top Goalscorer Award, with each bagging 34 goals during the 2017/18 regular season.

Martin, Hammond, Hotham and Bowns were joined by Belfast Giants forward Sebastien Sylvestre and Guildford Flames captain Jesse Craige as members of the First All Star Team.

Vallerand, Moffatt, Dunbar and Mustukovs were all named on the Second All Star Team, along with Sheffield defenceman Mark Matheson and Flames blue liner Calle Ackered.
