The Ontario Junior Hockey League was on the defence when the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced the 2018 SUNYAC Ice Hockey All-Conference Teams this week.

Three OJHL grads were named to the NCAA D3 conference teams. All are defencemen.

Ayrton Valente was named to the second team. The Plattsburgh senior played in the OJHL for his hometown Vaughan Vipers and the Mississauga Chargers.

Two of the three blueliners on the third team were OJHL teammates during one season with the North York Rangers:

Potsdam senior Kyle Thacker also played for the Milton IceHawks, Vaughan and the Orangeville Flyers from 2009-14. He’s from Mississauga.

Oswego freshman Max Novick, a native of Thornhill, played for the Rangers and Stoufville Spirit from 2012-17.

The conference will announce its individual awards next week.
