BURLINGTON, ON – The Burlington Herd, members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) announce the signing of right-handed pitcher Scott Plaza for the 2018 season.  Plaza played two seasons of collegiate ball at University of Wisconsin Whitewater where he lead the Warhawks to a 2014 NCAA National Championship.

Following Scotts collegiate career, he suited up for the Schaumburg Boomers of the Frontier League and the Sonoma Stompers of the Pacific Association last season.  "Scott has proven ability to be a quality starter in the IBL.  He showed the ability to dominate in his colligate career” said Director of Baseball Operations Jason McKay.

Plaza was named to the 2013 First Team All-WIAC, and had a career ERA of 2.55. In 2014, he enjoyed his best year, when he was 9-2 in 14 outings with a 2.53 earned run average in 96 innings. That season, he gave up 27 earned runs, walked 16 and struck out 85 batters. He also was named NCAA World Series Most Outstanding Player after throwing 16 shutout innings including a complete game Shutout in the Championship Game.

The Burlington Herd are a member of Ontario's most elite baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
