Mayhem Lose Four Players to ECHL Loans

MACON, GA- The Macon Mayhem and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Kerr announced on Tuesday that forward Jake Trask, forward Daniel Gentzler and defenseman Brandon Pfeil have been loaned to the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL, while defenseman Daniel Echeverri has been loaned to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

Trask, 26, heads to the ECHL for his second stint of the season, as he previously spent two games for the Wichita Thunder. Trask leads the Mayhem in points, as he has 17 goals, 27 assists and 44 points over 35 games. With a goal on Sunday against Peoria, he recorded his 200th career SPHL point.

Gentzler is also taking his second trip to the ECHL this season, as he recorded one assist and nine penalty minutes over five games for the Toledo Walleye. The 27-year-old from Hermosa Beach, CA – who has spent time at forward and defense for Macon this season – has four goals, 24 assists, 28 points and 82 penalty minutes in 30 games this year.

The 25-year-old Pfeil played one game for the Orlando Solar Bears this season, collecting a pair of penalty minutes. He has played all but one Mayhem game this season, recording goal, 15 assists and 16 points. Pfeil leads the Mayhem in plus-minus, as he is plus-21 this year.

Echeverri, 27, has played all 37 Mayhem games this season, tallying 10 goals, 14 assists and 24 points. He is tied for the most goals among SPHL defensemen with 10 and is alone atop the SPHL defensemen leaderboard in power play goals with eight.

This trip to Greenville is Echeverri’s first career regular season trip to the ECHL. With the four loans, the Mayhem now have 11 players currently on loan to the ECHL and a total of 14 different players with ECHL trips this season.

The Mayhem are back in action on Friday, February 16th at home against the Birmingham Bulls.
