Performance Enhancing Drugs (PED) Program Launched

Effective immediately, all players in the PBL will be required to complete the educational component of the Performance Enhancing Drugs Program (PED) prior to the start of the 2018 season. This program has been put in place in conjunction with Baseball BC to ensure that players are cognizant of the potential health effects that are detrimental to anyone using these substances, and to be proactive in programs to reduce or eliminate the use of performance enhancing drugs (PED) in their sport.  The use of PED is illegal in baseball.

Random testing performed by a contracted professional group will be conducted throughout the year effective immediately. Random selection of PBL players ONLY to be tested will be conducted by the Executive Management Committee (EMC) of the league. The cost of testing will be absorbed by the PBL.

Parental consent will be required for players randomly selected to be tested. The PBL will contact parents for their consent before testing proceeds.
