OJHL APPOINTS NEW DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS

December 7, 2017, Mississauga, ON The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) announced today the appointment of Jim Mason as its new Director of Communications.

A graduate of Lakehead University in his home town of Thunder Bay, Ont., Mason was an Ontario newspaper editor for 35 years. He is responsible for the 22-team OJHL’s website, social media presence and media relations.

“The OJHL welcomes Jim’s experience in the media industry and his knowledge of our league," said Scott McCrory, chairman of the OJHL board of directors. “The OJHL continues to attract elite level talent both on and off the ice and we are extremely fortunate to have someone with Jim’s experience join our off-ice team. We look forward to working with him in the promotion of our players”

Mason, a volunteer with the OJHL’s Stouffville Spirit since 1997, is also the team’s manager of communications.

“We know the importance of having a media presence with the league’s digital media strategy,” said OJHL commissioner Marty Savoy. “As we continue to promote not only the great players within the OJHL but also the success of our Alumni at all levels we know that we have a lot of positive stories and good news to share with the hockey world and our community at large.”

Mason’s duties with the OJHL begin immediately.

The Ontario Junior Hockey League is the largest Junior ‘A’ league operating under the auspices of the Canadian Junior Hockey League with 22 member clubs.  A proud member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League and Ontario Hockey Association, the OJHL was originally named the Ontario Provincial Junior ‘A’ Hockey League and it was formed out of the Central Junior ‘B’ Hockey League in 1993-94.  With a long and storied history of developing players for the next level, including the CIS, NCAA, CHL, Minor Pro ranks and the NHL, the OJHL had more than 135 commitments in 201-17, including 52 NCAA Division I scholarships.
