Buffalo Jr. Sabres rookie Trevor Peca (photo credit – Shawn Muir/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Miami University Redhawks beginning with the 2019-20 season.

The 6-foot-1 forward from Clarence, NY, has been a part of the Buffalo Jr. Sabres youth hockey program for the past six years

Trevor has six goals and 15 assists in 24 games this fall, in his first season of junior hockey.

The 17-year-old is the son of Michael Peca, the former captain of the NHL Sabres, who also played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, New York Islanders, Columbus Blue Jackets and Edmonton Oilers during a 13-year career.

“It put a little bit of extra pressure on me playing for the Jr. Sabres and him being a former Sabre but he always told me focus on your own path and that’s kind of what I did just having my mind on what I wanted to do,” Trevor told the Jr. Sabres’ website earlier this year.  “He’s been a really good influence, he’s pretty much taught me everything I know and he’s always there to help me and coach me, he’s been my coach pretty much my whole life.”

During the past six seasons, the Buffalo Jr. Sabres program has had more than 60 players advance to NCAA or Ontario Hockey League teams – including 29 NCAA Division 1 commitments.

Congratulations to Trevor and best of luck in the NCAA!
