Pitcher Logan Roberts of Campbellsville University and catcher Brendan Mapes of Oberlin College have been added to the 2018 summer baseball roster of the West Virginia Miners of the Prospect League.  The Beckley, WV-based team made the announcement on the morning of November 7 after receiving confirmation from the pair of their intention to play for the Miners this coming summer.

Roberts' upcoming spring collegiate season in 2018 will be his senior year and his second as a member of the team at Campbellsville, a member of the NAIA Mid-South Conference. In 2017 for the Tigers, he appeared on the mound in 5 games (3 starts) and limited opposing hitters to a paltry .188 batting average in 23.1 innings of work. He finished with a 2.31 earned run average, threw a complete game, and did not allow an extra base hit for the entire season.

Prior to his time at Campbellsville, the right-hander earned Rawlings first team All-American honors while playing the 2016 season at Lane Community College in Eugene, OR, where he shined also at the plate as well as the mound.  As a hitter in 42 games, he hit an impressive .357 (50-for-140), which included 26 extra base hits (6 of which were homers), 34 runs scored and 27 RBI.  He also notched 8 appearances as a pitcher, logging a 1-0 record and 2.46 earned run average with nine strikeouts during his 7.1 innings pitched.

Mapes will join the Miners in the summer of 2018 shortly after completing his junior season at Oberlin (OH) College, a member of the NCAA Division-III North Coast Athletic Conference.

His sophomore season of 2017 for the Yeomen will be one the Mount Vernon, OH resident doesn't forget anytime soon as he was fifth in the conference with a .403 batting mark (58-for-144), which was also tops among Oberlin hitters.  He led the Yeomen in 2017 in on-base percentage (.470), runs scored (32), and multi-hit games (19) while finishing second on the team in doubles (16), total bases (87), RBI (31), and slugging percentage (.604).  He also had seven multi-RBI games and a 12-game hitting streak among his 2017 collegiate accomplishments.

His college debut season of 2016 saw the right-handed hitting catcher appear in 28 games (27 starts) and hit .258 (23-for-89) on the year with 12 RBI and 7 runs scored.
