High School Invitational and Spring Training

Date:  Source: Florida Collegiate Summer League

For the 11th straight year, the Florida League High School Invitational will bring dozens of teams from around the country to Sanford, FL over the course of four weeks in March and April. Teams will compete during the weeks of March 12-16, March 19-23, March 26-30, and April 3-6. This will be the first year that the FHSI has expanded to four weeks of play.

Since 2008, a total of 116 schools from ten states have participated in the tournament: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Each year features a tremendous amount of talent including nine 1st round draft picks and more than twenty All-Americans. MLB players Francisco Lindor, Javier Baez, Greg Bird, Albert Almora and Carson Fulmer have all played in the FHSI in the past six years. Due to the amount of talent coupled with the opportunity to see out of state teams, it is not uncommon to see plenty of MLB scouts at the games.

The Florida League prides itself on providing each team a first-class experience at the FHSI. Each game features a PA announcer, scoreboard, walk out songs for players and live online scoring for friends and family who couldn’t travel to Sanford. The majority of the games are played at Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium, one of the finest ballparks in the state.

For the first time, the Florida League will also offer Spring Training during the months of March and April for teams who can’t play on their own fields early in the season. We have partnered with Seminole County to use the state-of-the-art Boombah Sports Complex as the home field for the spring training games.

The Boombah Sports Complex has nine artificial turf fields available for high school play. Each field is fully lit, has batting cages and bullpens, and shaded seating.

Unlike other spring training locations in Florida, our event does not require the bundling of fees, the purchase of a meal package or having to stay on-site. Teams are welcome to sign up to play as many games as they want, whether it’s two or ten. Varsity and JV teams will be able to participate, ensuring the development of players of all ages and skill levels.
