Red Sox stun Leafs in Game 7

TORONTO – Dan Jagdeo and Brandon Dailey each went deep in the top of the ninth inning as the Brantford Red Sox pulled off a stunning 5-4 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs Sunday afternoon in Game 7 of the quarter-final.

Brantford will now face Barrie in the semifinal starting Tuesday.

The Red Sox trailed 4-1 at Christie Pits and were down to their final three outs of the season. Jagdeo pulled the Sox to within a run with a two-run blast, and Dailey connected with one on and two out to give Brantford its first lead of the game.

Stefan Strecker sealed the victory with a scoreless ninth, getting a double play to end the game. It was his second save of the series.

Dalton Harvey (2-1) went one inning for the win, walking one. Christian Garcia started and gave up three runs on six hits with two walks and three strikeouts in five innings.

Offensively, Andris Rizquez went 3-for-4, while Cody Mombourquette singled twice and scored once. Ricky Murray drove in Brantford's first run in the sixth inning.

For Toronto, Justin Marra and Julian Johnson both hit solo home runs. Jonathan Solazzo and Zac Orchard each had two hits. Damon Topolie went 2-for-4 with a run. Grant Tamane and Connor Lewis drove in a run apiece.

Zach Sloan (1-1) took the loss, giving up four runs on seven hits with two strikeouts in 2.2 innings. Starter Justin Cicatello gave up an unearned run in six innings. He scattered four hits and walked two and struck out two.
