Locos and Monarchs Rank in Top 20

            It has been quite the ride for two teams in the GLSCL this season.  Both the Lima Locos and the Lake Erie Monarchs have had outstanding seasons, each finishing first in their respective divisions.  The Locos play in the Central Division, where they finished out the regular season with a record of 30-11.  The Monarchs play in the Northern Division, where they finished out the regular season with a record of 27-15.  Each of these teams has been recognized by Collegiate Summer Baseball in their weekly rankings.  In the latest rankings as of July 28, the Locos placed No. 17 in the nation.  Also on this list was the Monarchs at No. 20.  Both teams have tremendous talent from numerous schools.  The Locos have players from Bowling Green State University, Findlay, the University of Dayton, and Auburn.  Among the Monarchs’ roster are players from Michigan State University, Miami University, Western Michigan, the University Notre Dame, Purdue, and the University of Michigan.  The Monarchs finished their season on August 1 with a loss in an elimination game against the St. Clair Green Giants.  Meanwhile, the Locos swept the Green Giants in their first best-of-three playoff series to advance to the championship series against the Grand Lake Mariners.  They are currently down 1-0 against the Mariners, and they look to bounce back in their game on Sunday to even the series.
