BROCKTON, MA—July 29th, 2017— The Brockton Rox took care of business today as they grabbed two wins against the Seacoast Mavericks on Monday night. Game 1 was a blowout, ending in a final score of 18-4. Game 2 was a bit more competitive but the Rox came out on top with a 5-2 victory. The two wins helped the Rox clinch a spot in the upcoming playoffs.

In Game 1, The Rox (29-20) exploded offensively, getting atleast one RBI from every batter in the lineup. Highlights from the game included home runs from Chris Berry (North Florida), Ricky Smith (Merrimack College) and Kyle Ruth (SNHU) Ruth also added a triple and a RBI double in the game.

Game 2 was much closer. Both teams grabbed runs in the 1st inning with the Mavericks (22-26) scoring two, followed by the Rox scoring three of their own. Nick Garland (Central Connecticut State) had two RBIs and Kyle Simon (Palm Beach Atlantic) went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and a walk. Mike Formella (Concordia U) grabbed the win in Game 2 going five full innings, giving up only two runs on five hits.

The Rox will be back at Campanelli Stadium on Friday night to take on the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.

The Brockton Rox are a member of the Futures Collegiate Baseball summer league made up of elite New England collegiate athletes competing in a minor league style format.
