BROCKTON, MA—July 30th, 2017— The Brockton Rox lost a competitive game against the Martha's Vineyard Sharks by a final score of 4-2. The game showcased some great offense early on, but was dominated by fantastic pitching performances after the 3rd inning.

The Rox (27-20) had some opportunities, but played from behind all game despite scoring a run in the 2nd and 3rd innings. Chris Berry (U of North Florida) had a good day at the plate, going 1-2 with 2 walks and an RBI. Brad Marchetti (Tufts University) pitched 4 brilliant innings of relief, allowing just 1 run while striking out 3.

The Sharks (22-26) took the lead in the 1st inning with 2 runs and never looked back, scoring additional runs in the 3rd and 5th innings. The Sharks were led offensively by Jack Zagaja (University New Haven) who went 2-4 with a walk and 2 RBIs. Jack Roberts (Williams College) went 3-5 with a double, an RBI, and was all over the bases, scoring 3 of the Sharks 4 runs.

The Brockton Rox are a member of the Futures Collegiate Baseball summer league made up of elite New England collegiate athletes competing in a minor league style format.
