The Pompano Beach Clippers defeated the Delray Beach Lightning 5-1 to win the SFCBL Championship Monday night at 6 pm at Miller Park.  The championship series was tied at 1-1 going into game 3 on Monday night.  This is back to back championships for the Clippers as they have won 3 of 6 since the inception of the South Florida Collegiate League.

Andy Rivera (Middle Tennessee State) was the winning pitcher as he threw 5 1/3rd innings allowing two hits, no runs and striking out nine.

Tyler Dobie (Garrett Junior College) took the loss for the Lightning going 3 innings, allowing four hits, two runs and striking out two.

Andru Summerall (Florida Atlantic University) went 2 for 2, with two walks for the Lightning.

C.J. Alexander (State College of Florida) went 2-3 scoring twice in the win on Monday.

Yorvis Torrealba (College of Central Florida) went 1-4, scoring once with a solo home run to open the scoring in the game.

After the game, Pompano Beach Clippers infielder C.J. Alexander was chosen as MVP of the SFCBL Championship series.  "It feels great to win MVP, but it was a team effort to get to this game and win.  Andy (Rivera) pitched outstanding".

Clippers coach Neil Andreoli was so proud of his players, "It's an awesome feeling, especially now being back-to-back champions.  Rivera is normally a reliever but he went out and pitched lights out as a starter when we needed him.  What made this team different from others that I have coached was that they played well together in big spots".
