Suns beat Rox in Slugfest 13-8

The Pittsfield Suns (21-18-1) completed a sweep of a home and home against the Brockton Rox (22-15-1) by virtue a 13-8 victory, following a 13-5 victory on July 20th.

The Brockton Rox were on the board first. They gathered 1 in the 1st, 3 in the 2nd, 3 in the 4th, and 1 in the 6th.

The Suns' gameplan was to hit early and often, and that's what they did; knocking the starter David Griffin after only one inning. Suns exploded for 5 run in the 1st, 4 in the 3rd, 1 in the 6th and 7th, and 2 in the 8th. 

Austin Pope (3-2) got the win. David Griffin (2-1) got the loss. Both Craig Lacey and Brian Rodriguez received holds.

The Elser Animal Control Pest Player of the Game went to Sean Phelan, who went 3-3 with a solo home run, double, and a triple away from the cycle. Also collected was an RBI, 2 walks (1 hit by pitch) and 2 runs scored.

The Pittsfield Suns travel to Wachusett to take on the Dirt Dawgs on Saturday, July 22nd. This is a game will determine first place for the West division. First pitch is slated for 6:35 PM.
