Rox win 6-3 over Silver Knights

BROCKTON, MA—July 16th, 2017—The Brockton Rox took down the Nashua Silver Knights Sunday afternoon by a final score of 6-3. The win helps the Rox extend their lead on Nashua in the division as we head into the All-Star break.

The Rox (22-14) scored six runs on nine hits highlighted by two home runs by Nick Garland. (Central Connecticut State) Garland hit a solo shot in the 2nd followed by a two-run home run in the bottom of the 5th inning. Brockton also had RBIs from Jake Rosen (Virginia Tech), Ricky Smith (Merrimack College), and Chris Berry (North Florida) in the win.

The Silver Knights (18-20) got all three of their RBIs from two home runs by Ryan Sullivan. (SNHU) Sullivan had a two-run home run in the top of the 1st and later hit a solo shot in the 5th.

Matt Fogarty (Curry College) got the start for the Rox, going three innings giving up two runs on three hits. David Griffin (Curry College) got the win for the Rox pitching two innings, only giving up one run and striking out two.

The Rox will be back at Campanelli Stadium on Thursday to take on the Pittsfield Suns after the All-Star break. We would also like to congratulate our ten Rox players who are heading to Bristol on Tuesday night to compete in the FCBL All-Star game. Pitchers Zack Martin, Mason Palmieri, David Griffin, and Mike McCaffrey will represent the Rox as well as Joe Silva, Kyle Simon, Aldrich DeJongh, Chris Berry, and Nick Garland.

The Brockton Rox are a member of the Futures Collegiate Baseball summer league made up of elite New England collegiate athletes competing in a minor league style format.
